Leaders are made.....not born.

In YLHC leaders are made by learning about Houston County and the people who live here, gaining first hand experience in leadership and communication and doing all this with peers from high school.

History of Youth Leadership Houston County

Youth Leadership Houston County (YLHC) began in 2003/2004 as a project of the adult Leadership Houston County Alumni Association. Since its' beginning, three classes have successfully graduated from the program. Youth Leadership Houston County originators believed that if you invest in young people and educate them about the community and their role in it, students will establish a desire to initiate positive change in their community. The goal of Youth Leadership Houston County is to instill an appreciation for the people, places, history and opportunities available in Houston County and to encourage young people to lead in whatever way they are able to make change and meaningful connections in the community.
